Destiny 2: Why are cheaters ruining the game
On October 1, 2019, Destiny 2 became available on Steam, making a transition from Blizzard's Battle.net to the Valve platform. This was one
of the changes that happened in the game due to the re-acquisition of rights from Bungie, thus being in full control of Destiny and leaving Activision out of the equation.
Although Steam is a platform with many more users than Battle.net, which increases the reach of Destiny 2 (which now also has a free-to-play version), Battle.net undoubtedly has an advantage in control cheaters (or cheaters if you prefer). That advantage that Destiny 2 had when it was on the Blizzard platform, now begins to be missed with the arrival of Trials of Osiris, a competitive activity for PvP that challenges players to accumulate 7 victories in a row (without any defeat in between).
We are in the third week of Trials of Osiris and the presence of cheaters in matches is increasingly common. The problem became the most talked about subject among streamers and content creators in Destiny 2. One of the videos that most caught the attention came from the channel "Mtashed", which shows a team using various cheats, from aimbots to automatic revives ( turning one of the players of the opposing team into an immortal).
Although the Mtashed video was the one that reached the most, a quick search on YouTube reveals videos of several other players who found cheaters. The most common cheat seems to be aimbot, a cheat that guarantees the player unusual accuracy. There are obviously Destiny 2 players who have excellent accuracy and do not use cheats, however, it is suspected to find players with a low K / D ratio but who do not miss a single sniper shot.
Note that there is a tool for reporting cheaters and other problems at the end of a Destiny 2 game. Steam also has tools for reporting cheaters, but at the moment, these tools appear to be ineffective. Bungie has not yet responded to the current status of Trials of Osiris.
